Many other protections are included. You get many more great protections.

Kaspersky has some nice features. However, I don’t like them all. Kaspersky lacks essential features like dark web monitoring and two factor authentication (2FA), which are offered by the most popular password management software of 2022. While the system cleanup tools may be helpful, Avira offers more options to optimize your computer. The free VPN is included in all plans, but only 200MB/day is available and users can only connect to one server (which could be slow). Backup and Restore can be done with your Dropbox account for free. Dropbox provides 2GB storage for all users. It’s basically free.

Kaspersky Total Security continues to be a top-rated internet security product. The price is very affordable for a high-quality anti-virus scanner. Kaspersky appears to be the most transparent antivirus firm. Kaspersky, which was accused of working with Russian intelligence in order to steal US data in 2017, relocated its data processing facilities to Switzerland. Transparency Centers were opened around the world. The Transparency Centers passed a SOC 2 Inspection and have since been recertified.

Kaspersky Security Features

Antivirus Engine

Kaspersky uses both a cloud-based antivirus scanner and a virus library in order to detect malware. The file is then uploaded to Kaspersky’s scanner Cloud for further analysis. Machine-learning is used to determine if the file contains malware.

McAfee (Novaty), Bitdefender, McAfee and McAfee all use a combination of machine learning and signature databases. Kaspersky is a strong competitor in malware detection, it detected 100% of all the malware samples I tested.

Kaspersky offers 5 types of virus scanners

• Quick scan. Quick scan of system startup files and system memory. Also, check for boot sector.
• Full scan Full scan. The full scan will look at every file, folder, partitioned area and folder in your system.
• Selective Scanning. You can scan any file or hard drive.
• Scanning of your removable drive. This program will scan your removable hard drive (e.g. USB sticks, portable hard drives).
• Vulnerability scanning. Your system is scanned to find vulnerabilities. This includes software vulnerable to malware and out-of-date software.

Kaspersky offers many scan-scheduling choices. You can choose whether to scan immediately after the application is launched or at a specific time after every update.

To test Kaspersky I ran nearly 1000 different types test malware on my computer. They included trojans as well rootkits. Next, I ran a Quick Scan. It took less than 2 minutes. This was extremely fast. A Quick Scan was done on VIPRE in just 10 minutes. This is five times faster than what it took!

Kaspersky Quick Scan was unable to locate any malicious code I had hidden on my computer. It was not surprising, however, since it scans only the critical areas that are loaded when your OS starts.

Kaspersky suggested I run a “Full Scan”, to evaluate my entire system.

Bitdefender took only 45 minutes for the complete scan. Kaspersky gave me excellent scan results. It detected all the malware I had on my computer and was able to run it as usual.

Once the scan was completed, I could see all detected malware files in “Quarantine”.

Kaspersky has the ability to recover files from infection even after they are deleted and quarantined. Kaspersky is a great choice, even though most users wouldn’t like to do this.

Kaspersky cannot remove any malware found in a scan if it is not cancelled before the deadline. Kaspersky will notify you again if this happens. You can access the “Notification Center”, where you have more options to deal the malware that was discovered during the interrupted scan.

Next, Kaspersky instant protection was tested. It silently scans all your apps and checks for viruses against Kaspersky.

In my tests, real-time protection performed flawlessly. It blocked all of the malware that I tried to install on my computer. Kaspersky alerted me when it found malware. I can choose to receive more information about the malware or to have it removed immediately.

After running a ransomware simulation, it failed to secure any files. The program was stopped by Kaspersky real-time protection.

Lastly, I used “Vulnerability Check to identify unsecure software in my system that could be exploited or hacked by other malware.

Although there were only two instances of old software found on my computer, I was still amazed at how detailed the vulnerability report was. The scanner discovered an older version of Photoshop and produced a detailed report detailing my vulnerabilities. This report included information on when and how hackers exploited this vulnerability. Kaspersky’s antivirus does not allow users to update their apps. Avira is a competitor that offers an auto update function that will fix all your vulnerabilities quickly.

Overall, Kaspersky’s antivirus engine is quite good. It provides a 100% accuracy rate, multiple scans to choose from, great real-time security and doesn’t slow the system down when it runs a full scanner.

Protection Web

Kaspersky Protection web protection features are combined with Kaspersky Protection. They can identify and block malicious and fraudulent URLs.

Web Anti-Virus examines web pages visited and compares them with a database of malicious URLs. It also uses Heuristic Analysis for suspicious behavior detection.

Kaspersky Protection browser Extension is also included in the software and detects malware. It can also block tracking, mark websites as safe/unsafe and block ads. Users have access to a virtual keyboard.

I installed the antiphishing extension on Microsoft Edge and Mozilla Firefox. It also worked well with Google Chrome. Kaspersky blocked most of the harmful websites that I visited.

Kaspersky was able to detect all of my test links, however Bitdefender (and Norton) did a better job.

Kaspersky Protection’s tracker blocker prevents web analytics and social networking tracking. The anti-tracking feature can also track ad agencies. But users have the option to restrict data collection to specific sites. Although I like this feature, I don’t like that Kaspersky Protection or its partners (a total of 82 sites) can use the default settings. User data. It is easy to prevent Kaspersky’s data partners from collecting your data. Kaspersky should question the users about whether they are satisfied with the extension’s implementation.

You can access a virtual keyboard from your browser extension. Panda Dome does not have a virtual keyboard, but there are a few other options. Kaspersky’s extra protection against keyloggers is really cool.

Kaspersky keyboard can be used with Safe Money. Kaspersky wanted my permission to test this feature at several banks sites. The secure browser took 10 seconds each time to load. Bitdefender also offers Safepay, a secure browser. It loads much faster than Kaspersky’s Safe Money.

Overall, Kaspersky Web Protection is very good. Kaspersky’s Antiphishing Protection found almost all of the phishing websites I tested. Kaspersky’s antiphishing and ad blocking features are great. I do not like the fact that antitracking is disabled on Kaspersky or its 80+ affiliate sites. Kaspersky’s security browser and virtual keyboard are very helpful for banking websites.

System Cleanup Tool

Kaspersky has many PC cleaning tools such as Privacy Cleaner, Unused data Cleaner, and PC Cleaner.

Kaspersky’s system cleaner scans your computer to find browser extensions or programs that you don’t use often.

I used the PC Cleaner on my Windows 10 laptop. The system was scanned in just 2 minutes by the cleaner. The results were incredible.

I was offered options to remove, ignore, and perform a Google Search to find out more about each program.

Kaspersky’s computer cleaner allows you to select which apps you would like it to clean. Apps that require consent are excluded. This can slow down your startup and cause banners to appear.

Kaspersky’s Unused data Cleaner scans files stored in the Recycle Bin or log files. It quickly revealed many files. These files can be handled in a variety of ways.

Last, the Privacy cleaner cleans all of your browser history and cookies.

Kaspersky offers good system cleanup tools. However, I would like to see Kaspersky provide more system optimization tools. While you can postpone system scans when your battery is low, or your CPU has been under heavy load it is not very useful.

Kaspersky’s system cleansing tools can be used to quickly and effectively get rid of unneeded or inefficient files, as well as trace of your online activities. These tools may not be the most powerful on the market, but they can help speed up your computer.

Virtual Private Network (VPN).

Kaspersky offers a complimentary VPN with all plans. You can use it up to 200MB per day. Unfortunately, the VPN doesn’t allow unlimited browsing data. You can however add the premium Kaspersky VPN to your subscription if you enjoy Kaspersky VPN.

Kaspersky provides a premium VPN service:

• Unlimited browsing data. No data limits daily.
• The kill switch. Data transfer will stop if VPN is lost, damaged or destroyed
• Smart Protection. Smart Protection automatically activates the VPN every time you are connected to a network.
• Servers available in 25+ places. Customers are able to connect to any server even the fastest.

I wanted to find out how each premium and free VPN performed when speed testing. I created speed tests of each VPN. The first was with the VPN turned off, and the second, with it enabled.

As you can see, I was capable of downloading at a normal speed using the free VPN. Actually, it increased a little. However, upload and download speeds were noticeably slower. This was evident especially when I tried uploading files via P2P networks.

Next, the results for the premium VPN edition connected to Kaspersky’s fastest server:

Premium VPN had a slower upload speed. However, my ping was significantly lower than my browsing speed. I was able surf the internet at normal speeds even though I had disabled the VPN (and my download speed increased because of ISP throttling).

Kaspersky’s premiumVPN has another benefit: it can work with streaming services like Netflix.

While the free VPN isn’t very fast, the premium VPN has decent speeds. There are also plenty of servers all over the world. It’s an individual purchase and is not part of Kaspersky Anti-Virus Package.

Password Manager

Kaspersky uses 256-bit AES encryption to secure all passwords.

Kaspersky’s password management free edition lets users store up to 15 passwords. Most users will find this limit insufficient. Premium password managers do not limit the number of passwords that you can store. Kaspersky Premium password manager is great, but it’s only available to those who have the most expensive plan.

Kaspersky’s password manager software must be separately downloaded from antivirus. When you first open Kaspersky, you must create a master passcode. Kaspersky won’t be able to help you get into your password vault if the master passcode is ever lost. Kaspersky is a powerful zero-knowledge password management software. Kaspersky’s account recovery and emergency access options are very useful. LastPass has the same features.

After you have saved your passwords, you’ll need to install a browser extension. This Extension is available for Safari and Chrome Firefox Yandex Edge Safari. Kaspersky’s autosave/autofill function worked flawlessly in my tests. Kaspersky does not support auto-filling bank accounts and addresses on Macs or computers. It is not capable of doing so on mobile.

Kaspersky’s password vault is simple to use. Each option and feature are clearly labeled and easily accessible. Kaspersky allows you to add passwords for websites and documents as well as addresses and notes.

Kaspersky has a password-generator that you can use via the browser extension, or the app. The generator can create passwords of between 4-99 characters. This includes uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers and symbols. LastPass password managers can make these passwords.

Kaspersky lacks many of the features found in standalone password managers, such as two-factor authorization (2FA), a password changer and encrypted cloud storage.

Kaspersky’s password management program is quite basic.

Parental Controls

Kaspersky’s parental control (Safe Kids), is a great way of protecting your children online.

Parental controls, like the password manager can also be downloaded separately. It is easy to set up. You can also find a tutorial that shows you how to talk with your children about internet safety.

What comes with Kaspersky’s Safe Kids?

• Limitations in
• Site and application filtering.
• Social networking monitoring (Facebook & VK).
• GPS location tracking (Android & iOS only).

In my testing, I was capable of setting up weekly computer scheduling. I also had the option to choose to stop the test machine if the time limit expired.

Kaspersky’s content filter also worked well. I could restrict sites by categories but I also could create exclusions. Safe Search is a tool that prevents inappropriate content from appearing in search results. This option is available for all major browsers such as Google, Yahoo, Bing and YouTube.

It is possible to block apps by category (not accessible for iOS) and entertainment apps like games.

I used my Android phone’s geofencing, place tracking, and other features to test them. They were able pinpoint my location and notify me if my phone leaves safe areas.

Kaspersky Safe Kids has social network monitoring. This is a refreshing feature. Although many other antiviruses offer parental control, Kaspersky Safe Kids doesn’t.

Kaspersky parental control are some of the best. Kaspersky gives guidance on how you can talk to your child about parental restrictions.

Additional Features

Kaspersky also provides many other tools such as

• Webcam protection.
• Backup, Restore.
• Rescue Disc.
• Data encryption & shredder.
• Gaming mode.

The webcam protection feature alerted when I accessed any App that used my laptop’s webcam. This included Zoom and Skype. Kaspersky does provide this extra layer of protection against spyware, but I would prefer to see a microphone protector. Bitdefender offers microphone and webcam protection.

Backup and Restore lets users back up files to a removable storage device or online cloud storage. You have two choices: either you use Dropbox (default) OR connect Kaspersky to another service. This feature does not add any value. Dropbox gives all users 2GB of storage free of charge. You will need to upgrade to access additional storage. Kaspersky does provide a backup option. Norton offers more storage space and is cheaper than Kaspersky.

Kaspersky Rescue Disc has a very useful feature. It allows you wipe out infected computer immediately after it has started. You can activate this feature by downloading Kaspersky rescue disc, and then upload it to a USB/CD/DVD. After that, you can disinfect your computer with the Rescue Disc. ESET, Panda, and Panda offer this feature.

Data encryption is a method to protect sensitive files. Data shredder permits permanent deletion of files.

Gaming mode can pause notifications or scans while you play, or when an application is in full-screen mode. BullGuard has a better gaming option than Kaspersky’s. This game booster actually improves gameplay performance.

Kaspersky also offers many other tools that are excellent. Kaspersky’s premium plans should include advanced tools like dark web monitoring and identity theft protection. McAfee’s top-of the-line antiviruses such as BullGuard and TotalAV offer US users identity theft protection and dark Web monitoring.

Kaspersky’s extras offer a nice bonus, especially considering how many antiviruses only provide basic protection against viruses. Kaspersky Backup and Restore isn’t very useful to me, but I love the Rescue Disc functionality that saves severely infected computers.

Pricing and Kaspersky plans

Kaspersky has 3 packages. They are extremely affordable for the amount of features contained in each package.

Kaspersky Anti-Virus offers the ability to protect 3 or 10 Windows computers. Kaspersky Internet Security offers protection for 3, 5, 10, and ten Windows, Macs, as well as Android devices. Kaspersky Absolute Security can protect 5, 10, 20, or 20 Windows, Mac and Android devices.

Kaspersky Security Cloud free doesn’t offer any of its main antivirus products. Kaspersky Security Cloud Free no longer offers any free products.

Kaspersky Setup and Use Ease

Kaspersky is easy to install and configure.

Kaspersky’s interface looks very professional. Kaspersky’s interface is very professional.

Kaspersky shows only those features you have access. This is the reason Kaspersky is so intriguing. For plans below the lowest-tier plan, there are no greyed features or upgrade prompts. This is great, because Kaspersky makes sure that all packages feel complete.

Kaspersky’s tools may be hard to find. Kaspersky’s tools can be difficult to find. To use the PC Cleaner, click on “More Tools”, Clean & Optimize, then click on “PC Cleaner”.

The UI interface for Kaspersky is simple to use once you become familiar with it. It is possible to personalize your experience in many ways.

I like the Notification Center. It can be accessed via the main Kaspersky Window. It allows you to make important decisions and provides information.

The Notification Center allows you to easily toggle the required functions on and off. Notification Center: This is a function that alerts you when antivirus programs are down and directs you to the appropriate tool.

Kaspersky’s layout may take some time to get used to. Once you’re comfortable with the layout, navigation is simple.

Kaspersky Mobile App

Kaspersky provides a complete Android security app. However, iOS users can only access the most basic security features such as parental controls and password manager.

Security Cloud iOS

• Adaptive Safety Modifies settings depending on user behavior. An open network connection will activate the VPN.
• Security live. iOS security patches.
• Account check. Checks your email for data breaches.

This device is also equipped with a QR reader.

Android provides many additional features. The Android app worked great on my Huawei Mate 30Lite.

Kaspersky’s Android mobile application has:

• Antivirus scanner.
• Call blocker.
• Anti-theft.
• Real-time protection.
• App lock.
• Anti-smishing (SMS phishing).
• Protection by browsing.

It’s easy to open the antivirus scanner within the program. These scans are available:

• Quick scan. Scan downloaded applications for malware.
• Run an extensive scan. Scan the entire device for malware.
• Scanning of folders. Scanning of a particular file.

I discovered 80 malware on the phone and ran an extensive scan.

Kaspersky detected each file in less than 5 minutes. It immediately quarantined them.

The app’s excellent real-time protection worked well. It detected all of my malware and blocked me from downloading any dangerous apps from Google Play Store. This is a very nice feature. However, Norton Mobile Security App Advisor is my favorite. They will warn you of potential dangers before you download them.

Kaspersky discovered the dangers of app downloadings and quarantined them instantly, keeping my device safe.

Kaspersky provides anti-theft protection via its mobile app. You’ll need to create a Kaspersky account in order to make this work.

Using My Kaspersky Online Hub to log in will give you four anti theft features. These include the ability to lock, wipe, or sound an alarm, as well as taking a picture of the person using the lost/stolen device.
