PrivateVPN Full Review

PrivateVPN has been tested and reviewed over a few weeks. I wanted the best security, speed, and intuitive app. PrivateVPN and other top VPNs were also compared in order to assess its value.

PrivateVPN has a lower number of servers and does not provide as many additional features as some VPNs. It has excellent privacy features. It also performed well during my speed, streaming, or torrenting tests. The app interface itself is also quite simple. It’s also less expensive than most VPNs.

PrivateVPN Features

PrivateVPN features the following security options:

• AES encryption 256 bits. This encryption protects sensitive data at banks and military bases around the world.
• PrivateVPN has no logs policy. PrivateVPN won’t log any personal data or internet traffic.
• This feature prevents data leaks, traffic loss, and VPN connection droppage. Only Android users and Windows users are allowed to use the kill button.

PrivateVPN offers four internet protocols. These are OpenVPN (UDP/TCP), IKEv2/IPSec IPSec L2TP/IPSec, and PPTP. These protocols are sufficient for most users. PrivateVPN needs to offer WireGuard. This could be CyberGhost VPN or Private Internet Access. PrivateVPN must add WireGuard. WireGuard performed slightly better in my tests than other protocols.

PrivateVPN apps offer DNS leak protection that can block IPv6 traffic. PrivateVPN transmits traffic through encrypted DNS servers. This prevents DNS leaks. I ran 10 DNS-leak tests while connecting with 10 servers. My IP and DNS address were never disclosed.

PrivateVPN offers WebRTC protection but not for. ProtonVPN and ExpressVPN are two of the top VPNs. However, they offer WebRTC protection within their apps. Other VPNs, including CyberGhost VPN and Private Internet Access are able to disable WebRTC through browser extensions. PrivateVPN has no browser extensions. This means that you will have to use a third party application (such as uBlock Origin), which will stop WebRTC leaks.

PrivateVPN offers no extras, such as an anti-malware and split tunneling. Private Internet Access and ProtonVPN provide ad blocking and malware blocking services that slow down website loading times and prevent malicious websites.

Stealth VPN

PrivateVPN’s obfuscation function is used to hide VPN traffic from internet service providers (ISPs) and other third parties.

Your ISP will see that you use a VPN but not what you do online. PrivateVPN VPNs which offer obfuscation conceal VPN traffic. This allows you to surf the internet as though you’re using a VPN. This is the way VPNs can bypass VPN blocking restrictions.

Stealth VPN allows bypassing internet restrictions in countries like China and Iran. You might also be able access streaming apps like Netflix or Amazon Prime.

Stealth VPN is a VPN that adds encryption to your traffic and can slow down internet speeds. StealthVPN might slow down the speed of your internet. This may cause lag on streaming sites and files taking longer time to download. My tests revealed that Stealth VPN took approximately 4-5 seconds longer for videos to load. However, there wasn’t any buffering after videos were loaded.

Tor Support

PrivateVPN servers all allow you to connect To The Onion Router (Tor).

This privacy network hides your IP address, encrypts traffic multiple occasions and conceals your IP. Tor is safer than VPN. VPNs will not allow Tor entry points to see your IP address. Tor over VPN allows users to access.onion pages in countries that have ban Tor network use.

PrivateVPN’s Tor Over VPN is very easy to use. Simply connect to a PrivateVPN VPN server, and then you can use Tor browser for browsing the internet. I was able and able to access.onion websites, but the speeds were slower as a result of double encryption.

PrivateVPN offers great Tor support. But there are other VPN services that offer better Tor functionality. ProtonVPN, however, lets you browse.onion websites through normal browsers such Chrome, Firefox, Opera or Safari.

PrivateVPN Speed, Performance

I ran speed tests on 60+ countries to determine PrivateVPN’s average VPN speed. I experienced a drop in download speeds of approximately 40% when compared with my baseline speed. This is quite impressive. I was able download, torrent, and play almost on every server.

PrivateVPN had the fastest speeds when used local servers (Romania), although I did experience a slowdown when using remote servers. These servers were in South Africa. New Zealand. Malaysia. South Africa. ).

Before I began my tests, my speed was tested (without using PrivateVPN). This allowed me set a baseline for my speed.

Next, I connected via VPN to a Romanian server. Next, I connected to a VPN server located in Romania.

Then, I tried an American server. Although my download speed was affected, 56% of it did not impact my internet speed. Most websites took less than a second to load. It was possible to still watch HD streaming video and play online multiplayer games without any lag.

PrivateVPN can generally be found in physical locations (they are physically situated in a country where you connect), but I would prefer to see where the virtual servers are located.

PrivateVPN should also show load percentages along with its servers list (such CyberGhostVPN or ProtonVPN). It would be much easier to find servers with low load.

PrivateVPN uses public, shared IP addresses on all its servers. It is nearly impossible for anyone else (or anyone else) to trace your IP addresses back to you. PrivateVPN gives you a dedicated IP address that is dynamic for free. PrivateVPN’s iOS apps are easy to use. They have a similar layout to the Android app.

It does have no IPv6 protection and no kill switch. The iOS app has IKEv2/IPSec. It is faster that OpenVPN.

The iOS app is not perfect, but it was easy to use and reliable. It was simple to connect and switch servers, browse and stream content, as well as to browse and search for it.

PrivateVPN provides a great method to organize leak protection, kill switches and other functions (it is not available for Macs). It is located under the connection Guard Tab. If you are disconnected from VPN, Application Guard allows you to terminate certain programs in Windows apps.

Our PrivateVPN apps are easy to use for Android, iOS and Windows.

Although they are almost identical, both the iOS (Mac) and iOS apps lack a kill button and the iOS does not offer IPv6 leak protection. All the apps are identical in design and have well-designed interfaces.
