Norton — Best for additional internet security protections.

Nortonremains my preferred antivirus program in 2022. It features a powerful antimalware tool and many internet security tools. It has a simple online dashboard and provides excellent customer service. All this for a significantly lower price than the majority of antivirus products.

Norton’s antimalware engine is based on machine learning and advanced algorithms. It also maintains a constantly updated malware database. The engine can detect all kinds of malware, from trojans and viruses to ransomware, cryptocurrencyjackers, and others. There was little system slowdown.

Norton also has

• Firewall.
• Anti-phishing protection.
• Parental control.
• SecureVPN (virtual private networks)
• Cloud backup.
• Privacy protection.
• Website Protection (Windows only).
• Privacy (US only).

Norton is good, but not perfect. Norton is good but not perfect. The VPN won’t work on streaming services like Netflix and Hulu. It also doesn’t allow torrenting.

Although Norton 360 has some flaws, I still think it’s a great deal. Norton 360 is available with a 60-day money-back guarantee. You will have ample time and space to test the antivirus and select the best one.

Norton offers a variety high-value security features as well as tools that can be used in cybersecurity protection.

The cheapest plan includes a firewall and antiphishing protection. A password manager and 10GB cloud space are included in the cheapest plan.

Norton Security Features

Anti-Malware Engine

Norton uses a vast malware directory and machine learning to detect malware. It offers real-time protection from malware from iOS and Android as well Windows, Mac, Windows and Windows.

For testing purposes I downloaded a database of nearly 1,000 malware files. It included trojans. trojans. backdoors. keyloggers. rootkits. zero day attacks. ransomware. spyware. Cryptojackers. PUPs.

Norton detected and removed 100% of malware files from my hard drive after a thorough scan. Norton has the highest malware detection rate, beating only Advira span & Bitdefender.

After running Norton’s full scanning, my real-time security was turned on. I then tried to download 997 malicious files in three formats: plain, zipped, or encrypted. Norton also stopped me from extracting any encrypted malware or zipped files.

Norton’s disk scanning took around 40 minutes on mine personal computer. This is comparable to top competitors. Norton also offers additional scan options, including:

• Rapid scanner — Looks for areas where malware could be easily detected. This includes temporary files and running processes.
• Custom scan — Scans specified folders, locations on disk.
• Norton intelligence Scans files quickly.

Norton makes scheduling your virus scans easy. Norton ran a thorough scan on me from 3-5am to determine if I could schedule weekly or monthly scans.

Norton will detect if you have full screen mode enabled. Norton will not send notifications to you, nor initiate scans (including scheduled scanning). This is a wonderful feature. Norton will automatically suspend notifications when you go fullscreen. Norton is an excellent antivirus designed for gaming.

Overall Norton’s Malware scanner is quite good. Norton’s antivirus scanner is extremely good. The system scan detected all my malware and did not slow down the computer. This includes a personal scan and a quick scan. It was easy and quick to schedule scans.

Smart Firewall

Norton’s Smart Firewall is significantly stronger than Windows or macOS built-in firewalls. In fact Norton was able in my exploit testing to detect every network intrusion.

Advanced users can modify Norton’s firewall. Norton’s firewall blocks most Windows services that are used on a public WiFi network. These include File and Printer Sharing and Network Discovery. Remote Desktop Connection and File and Printer Sharing. A complete list of these options can be found in the Permissionswindow.

Norton provides a list with 136 uncommon protocols. Norton has a list that contains 136 rare protocols. Malware can use these protocols for communication with other devices on the network. Norton will notify users if it finds suspicious activity.

Norton’s Smart Firewall, in general, is a wonderful product. It detected all network intrusions and provides advanced users with a vast array of customization options.

Safe Web & Safe Search

Norton’s Safe Web extension can be used with Chrome Firefox Safari Safari Edge. It offers community reviews as well as protection against phishing site.

This browser extension, Safe Web Browser Extension, offers very good anti-phishing Protection. It detected the majority of phishing websites I tested. This includes sites that Chrome failed to detect, or McAfee’s top competitors.

Safe Web provides “Isolation Mode”, which helps protect financial information. This disables browser-based intrusions. Your browser window will become “read-only” to stop malicious web scripts and malware stealing information. Isolation Mode makes it impossible for hackers to steal information from Safe Web.

Safe Web offered to isolate my browser. I was disconnected from my rest system when I accepted the request. It couldn’t copy screencape, paste or screencape text.

Norton’s Safe Search Tool, a secure engine, provides color-coded assessments of search results. Safe Search Tool is a secure engine that provides color-coded assessments of search results. It also gave grey “untested” notifications to many sites that are really safe.

Norton’s Safe Search wasn’t my favourite. Norton’s SafeSearch wasn’t my favorite.

Dark Web Monitoring (Select Only Countries)

LifeLock is a US identity protection program that scans dark forums. Credit reports, breach databases and credit reports for any indications of theft.

Norton’s dark net monitoring scans for a vast array of personally identifiable (PII).

• Bank account numbers.
• Credit cards
• Addresses.
• Information concerning driver’s license
• Insurance numbers

Norton offers a more robust data breach monitoring platform than other companies. This is possible by employing human agents who are paid for their work in dark web forums. Norton dark web assistants can access information that is not available to most companies. You can get help and feedback if your information is posted on dark net.

You can also opt for dark internet monitoring whenever you provide your personal information. Norton’s darknet monitoring team will send a notification to your email with instructions for how you can protect you identity, accounts, privacy, and privacy.

Norton offers an excellent dark web monitoring program. US users have full access to Norton’s LifeLock identity security and services.

Identity Theft Protections – Only in the USA

Norton’s LifeLock identity-protection product includes a lot of features, such as

• Credit report monitoring

• Credit freeze
• Home title and court record. ID monitoring.

LifeLock identity thieves protection services are excellent. LifeLock notify you about any loan or purchase that involves personal information. LifeLock notify anyone trying to use this information.

LifeLock does not offer protections to US users. BullGuard & TotalAV offer credit monitoring services in Europe, USA, and Canada at a fraction of the cost of LifeLock. They offer less protection than LifeLock’s.

Norton’s LifeLock Plans are the best way for you to protect your finances, identity, and personal information. They are available only for US users.

Secure VPN (Virtual Private Network).

VPNs are able to hide your IP address behind any of the thousands of servers located around the globe. It can also encrypt all of your web activity, helping to increase privacy.

Norton VPN also offers other security features.

• Strong encryption (256 bits AES).
• No-logs policy.
• Turn off
• Blocking ad trackers
• Unlimitted browsing data (even with the cheapest plan).

Norton’s VPN speeds are quite good. Although they aren’t slow, the connection speeds of Norton VPN are good.

This internet connection is via my local network and does not use a virtual private network.

After that, I did speed tests using Norton VPN connecting at a US location.

As you see, my download speed was significantly reduced but my “ping” was very high . With Norton’s VPN enabled I was still able streaming HD video and browsing without noticeable slowdown

Although I had the same download and ping speeds, my upload speed was about half as fast when I connected to the Dutch server.

Netflix US customers have some bad news. Netflix US customers were not able to access Netflix US content due to Norton’s VPN blocking Netflix’s anti-VPN firewalls. (See the list of top VPNs to access Netflix here span>

Norton VPN won’t allow torrenting. I don’t think this is the best option as there are plenty of torrenting VPNs.

Norton Secure VPN runs slower than many competitors, doesn’t allow torrenting or is compatible with Netflix and other streaming platforms, such as ExpressVPN, standalone VPNs, or standalone VPNs. It allows encrypted web access via a wide range of servers all over the world, something which most competitors do not provide.

Cloud Backup

Norton’s cloud backup is great. However, this option is only for PC users.

• Backups of are essential.
• Save particular files.
• Save and delete backed up files from your local hard drive.
• Keep your data safe by backing up to the cloud and local hard disk.

Cloud Backup works great. It automatically selected 50GB of files that are important and then allows advanced users to select the folders they wish to back up.

Though Norton’s backup service isn’t the most advanced, it can provide up to 10-500GB of storage depending on which Norton plan you have.

Password Manager

Norton’s password manager is quite good . A lot of antiviruses have password mangers that offer basic password storage but nothing to make Norton’s passwordmanager exceptional

Although it lacks the same functionality and features as standalone apps 1Password/Dashlane, it’s simple, secure and comes with helpful extras.

Here are the password managers for Norton:

• Secure 256-bit AES encryption
• Unlimited password storage.
• Synchronization for Macs, Macs & Androids.
• Chrome extensions Firefox, Edge Safari Safari Chrome and Chrome.
• HTML auto-save/auto-fill
• Password generator.
• Password vault auditing.

Norton gave me the option to import password vaults using Chrome Firefox, Dashlane or Firefox after I created my master password. Norton

Once I had successfully imported my passwords into LastPass, and navigated to PayPal I saw a small icon from Norton. I simply clicked the icon and entered my email and password.

Norton surpasses all other antivirus providers by including vault auditing tools within its password management. It includes vault auditoring tools in its password management. This puts Norton ahead of other antivirus providers.

Norton’s Password Manager offers a mobile login option. It allows users with their mobile device to log in to the vault instead of using their master password.

Norton’s password management system may not be perfect. My first issue was Norton’s inability to provide account recovery or emergency access. Norton can’t provide emergency access or account recovery if your master password is lost. It is not possible to create a hint for an encrypted string that contains random numbers and letters. This is what a master phrase should contain.

Although some users may like the lack account recovery options — it makes con artist unable gain access to your vault — I think most users would prefer email Account Recovery or emergency contact options, such as LastPass.

Norton’s password management isn’t as powerful than standalone competitors, but offers multidevice backup, secure code generator, password automatic-fill and password save, password fill, password auditing and mobile login. Norton was ranked as the #1 antivirus program with password management in 2022.

Parental Controls for Safe Families

Norton’s parental controls are available for Android, iOS and Windows. They are not available on Mac. Norton was ranked as the #1 Best Antivirus With Parental Controls in 2022.

Norton gives parents the option to:

• Filter inappropriate content with accuracy.
• Hulu, YouTube, and Vimeo videos.
• Track location for mobile devices.
• Block Android apps
• Plan usage and set time limits for all devices.
• Set emergency contacts.

I tried many parental control softwares to see which one was best for my child. BullGuard parental controls were activated and I was able go to porn and violent websites.

Norton however blocked several sites correctly during my testing. Norton was able block 47 different websites categories, including Hate Speech, Cult and Abortion. You can toggle each parental control separately.

Norton Safe Family provides a “School Time Mode” option. This allows only the parents to access apps and websites important for their child’s education. This can be very beneficial for any child involved in virtual school.

Safe Family also filmed every search, YouTube video, and Hulu program I made from my iPhone, Chromebook, and Chromebook.

Access to Norton’s app blocker, location monitoring, and usage scheduling tools can all be done easily via the online dashboard. It was remarkable that Norton could pinpoint my iPhone’s exact position at 65 feet.

Norton’s GPS tracking device does not have geofencing alerts. However, parents will be notified if their children go outside of a restricted area. Bitdefender and Bitdefender include geofencing as part of their parental controls. This would be an excellent addition for Norton’s product lines.

Norton Safe Family has many impressive features, including app blocking, usage restrictions, location tracking and YouTube monitoring. This is without doubt one of the best parental control apps available.

Privacy Monitor

Norton Privacy Watch is a simple, yet effective feature that protects your personal information (PII), and prevents it from being sold or used by data brokers.

Data brokers use metadata from thousands websites to create an individual identity profile. This profile can contain your last address, family name, favourite brands, birthday and gender. The data brokers then make a living by selling the information to high-value buyers.

Privacy laws around the world prohibit data brokers selling or collecting your information. Norton requests that approximately 25 data brokers stop collecting and selling your data.

Access Norton Privacy monitor can be accessed from the my.norton internet portal. Privacy assistant will allow you to have data brokers managed by Norton employees.
