VyprVPN was a top VPN provider for me. It was available for testing for several weeks.

VyprVPN, a privacy-focused VPN, has a strong reputation for being extremely secure. It features high-privacy features like a kill switch and no-logs policy. It also offers a proprietary protocol that bypasses internetcensorship to hide VPN usage from third parties.

VyprVPN provides excellent privacy and security features. It has great torrenting and streaming support, as well as user-friendly apps. It is however quite costly.

These essential VPN security features are available from VyprVPN.

• AES encryption with 256 bits HTMLVPN provides encryption for your data, which is also used by the military and banks.

ExpressVPN and all other VPN providers offer basic kill switches that you can enable or disable. VyprVPN allows for you to set the kill switch to remain active even after closing the VyprVPN app. This will prevent you from going online while connected to the VPN. VyprVPN offers strong DNS leak protection through its encrypted DNS servers (VyprDNS), but I am disappointed that VyprVPN doesn’t include IPv6 and WebRTC protection.

VyprVPN supports The Onion Router (Tor) on all its servers. VyprVPN can expose your Internet Protocol (IP), even if it is lost accidentally while browsing Tor’s Tor network. ProtonVPN, however, is better suited for browsing Tor. ProtonVPN allows Tor websites to be accessed using regular browsers like Firefox and Chrome.

VyprVPN offers a Block Malicious Sites option which blocks connections to sites suspected to host malware. This feature is not available for Android 7.0 or macOS.

Obfuscation

VyprVPN Chameleon protocol bypasses Internet censorship in countries like China.

VyprVPN will refresh Chameleon’s Internet address multiple times per session. If an IP address is blocked, VyprVPN will assign another IP address.

Chameleon slows down internet speeds. This is due to an extra layer of encryption called the “obfuscation layer”.

VyprVPN Chameleon protocol is an excellent feature. Chameleon allows users to bypass VPN block or censorship by obfuscating VPN traffic.

Split-Tunneling

VyprVPN has a split-tunneling option called “Connection Per App”. The VPN server will route traffic through it, while your local ISP network routes it through the VPN server.

Connection Per app performed as advertised VyprVPN routed my torrent traffic at a speed that allowed me to stream multiple HD TV shows simultaneously.

Split tunnelling by VyprVPN is not available for Android or iOS. However, many top VPNs such as ExpressVPN, ProtonVPN, and ProtonVPN offer split tunnelling on Windows. VyprVPN should include split tunnelling in their Windows app.

VyprVPN doesn’t allow split-tunnel traffic.

VyprVPN can be used for split-tunneling on both Android and macOS. The Windows app doesn’t have this feature. However, it is easy to connect per app. It worked flawlessly when I tried it.

VyprVPN has a transparent policy that leaves no logs.

VyprVPN does not keep track of your IP address, downloaded files, or which websites you visit. VyprVPN does not ask for full names, which is unusual among VPNs. So I made a fake one. Although it worked, I would prefer VyprVPN to not add this step to their purchase process.

VyprVPN used to keep logs of users’ IP addresses for up to 30 days. It now has a no logs policy. This was verified and independently audited in 2018.

I ran speed tests in each of the 60+ countries where VyprVPN servers. However, my speed test was conducted in Romania, which has fast internet speeds. This didn’t affect my streaming and torrenting experiences. He saw an average 21% drop in speed.

I ran a speed test connected to my ISP’s network to get a baseline view on my speed.

Next, I used VyprVPN’s Fastest Server. This tool connects to the fastest servers based upon where you are located. I was connected to a Romanian server. This allowed me to browse the internet quickly and download large files very quickly.

The server was located in the US. Although my speeds were 83% slower than the websites, videos loaded almost immediately and started in HD on my PS4 with minimal buffering. Even online games were possible without lag. Voice over IP (VoIP), calls did not freeze or disconnect.

Finally, I was able connect to a Japanese server. It took me between 5-10 seconds to load 1080p videos. These videos were hard to view because of constant buffering and freezing from my VoIP call. VyprVPN’s iOS app isn’t as good as its Android app

The iOS app looks similar to the Android one, but it doesn’t have a kill switch. Private Internet Access can be used if you require an iOS app with a solid kill switch.

Split tunneling is not available in VyprVPN iOS App, but I don’t know of any VPN that offers split-tunneling for iOS.

The iOS app also includes IKEv2/IPSec and OpenVPN. WireGuard can only be used on iOS 12 and higher.

VyprVPN iOS App is excellent. It is easy to use, secure, fast, and has many more features than the Android version.

Windows/Mac (Desktop)

The interfaces of VyprVPN’s Windows and macOS apps are almost identical to those on the mobile apps. They are easy to use and have good features.

VyprDNS and Public Wi-Fi Protection are included in both apps. You can also choose from a range of connection options, including OpenVPN or IKEv2/IPSec.

Both VyprVPN’s Windows app as well as its macOS app are very good. The macOS app is superior because it allows split-tunneling and prevents malicious sites from loading.
