CyberGhost VPN Features

The CyberGhost VPN offers all the security features you would expect from a premium VPN.

CyberGhost lets you connect to up to seven devices simultaneously. This is more than ExpressVPN or TunnelBear, which allow only five devices.

Split-tunneling

CyberGhost VPN’s Android app offers split tunnelling. I tried it out by disabling my mobile banking app, and routing all other apps through it. The results were exactly what I was expecting. CyberGhost’s split-tuning function worked flawlessly with both VPN-connected apps and regular internet apps.

CyberGhost VPN’s Android split tuning is very similar with ExpressVPN. It does not exclude apps. Split Tunneling by ProtonVPN is superior. This tool allows you to exclude apps.

Split tunnelling is not available by CyberGhost VPN. The Smart Rules section has an exceptions tool that allows you to select which websites you do not want to be routed through it.

Split tunneling allows you to route certain apps through your VPN. CyberGhost VPN must have a fully-featured split tunneling tool for Windows.

Smart Rules

CyberGhost’s Smart Rules feature can only be used on Mac or Windows. This feature allows you to personalize your VPN preferences. You simply need to toggle a button to activate or deactivate the function. There are four options for setting up privacy and security functions using Smart Rules.

• CyberGhost launch guidelines. Email or Social Media will open automatically.
• Wi Fi protection. CyberGhost VPN lets you choose to launch the VPN connection whenever you connect with a secured, unsecure, or saved Wi Fi network.
• Exclusions. You will need OpenVPN to make exceptions.
• App rules. CyberGhost can automatically connect to a server after you open an app.

While there are many VPNs that allow you to disable/enable certain functions manually, CyberGhost’s Smart Rules give you as much control as CyberGhost’s.

NoSpy Servers

CyberGhost’s NoSpy servers offer more security and speed than CyberGhost’s regular server.

MyID guard is an excellent option for people who don’t want a password manager but are comfortable with simple dark-web monitoring.

Blocker for Content

CyberGhost VPN Content Blocker is designed to block malicious and fraudulent websites as well as online ads.

CyberGhost, on the other hand, alerted me about malicious websites that Chrome wasn’t flagging as potentially dangerous. McAfee Total Security or Norton 360 are good internet security tools.

CyberGhost VPN Ad Blocker doesn’t block ads, but CyberGhost’s Content Blocker still detects suspicious sites.

I have run speed tests on CyberGhost VPN servers.

When I was connected to a US server (my location), I experienced the fastest speeds. I was also able connect to remote countries like Australia with high speeds.

To establish a baseline internet speed, I did a speed test with my own internet connection.

Next, I connected to CyberGhost’s Quick Connect. My download speed dropped down to 4%.

My download speed dropped by approximately 45% after connecting to a UK server. But, I was still able to watch YouTube videos in HD.

My connection speed dropped 23% when connecting to a Sydney server.

CyberGhost VPN works extremely fast. There was not one slowdown.
